On Monday we had our PLC meeting for the month of April. I am so pleased at the number of teachers who participated. It was also super to have Ms. Larocque join us.
On the agenda were the upcoming math assessments for FNSSP (First Nations Student Success Plan). All teachers can expect to see me in their classroom on and around the end of May.
We also discussed the practice PAT tests available in Mathletics. I am so pleased with the results of the practice tests completed so far. I can see how hard students and teachers are working to bring up the math skills and confidence of our students. If you need help scheduling, shoot and email to Ms. Kiefert. (thanks Chris)
Speaking of Mathletics, I would encourage teachers to look at the new reports available for your class and individual students. We can quickly look at the strengths and weaknesses of our classes and program accordingly. I would also encourage teachers to assign tasks and plan classroom instruction based on classroom and student needs. Ms. Kiefert does help assign tasks occasionally, however as classroom teachers, this responsibility should be yours. You know your students best and assigning tasks is an essential part of student growth in Mathletics. There are approximately 1000 students on various computer based instruction within NEA and she does not have the time to schedule tasks for each student.
I hope everybody has a restful Easter Break.
